APC has always been my choice for the brand surge. I used it if I have an admin systems are used. I got the drive battery applications in large server computers, and this exact model was the one I chose to protect all PCs in our job Corps Center. With over 5 sites, the biggest problem was dirty power and after installation to increase the number of computer parts, I had fallen dramatically change daily. This is a goodBrand, but with good working conditions, surge protection is the best way to protect your investment and irreplaceable data from voltage spikes in the supply line. Do not save, get a surge protector. The A / C or refrigerator send surges down the electrical circuit and damage to sensitive equipment. Aloha!

I have two of them already and are good for the typical male. And 'built very sturdy and can be wall mounted as well. The only drawback is that this particular model, the ON / OFF button on top that makes you succeptible to hit the switch has a switch error.
The distance between the sockets are ok, but you may have difficulties with larger adapters. This can block another one of the slots.
For normal everyday use, is a good surge protector, which I recommend … Beats buying a cheapSurge, the economy. At least with APC, you know you are getting a good protector.

The APC SurgeArrest Per7 is really good. With 7 power points, almost everything you want, but put the sockets are very close, so if you are putting a great card in it, it takes almost three sockets, so the other two useless.
I think I made a small mistake to buy it. I recommend the APC Surge Arrest pro8T2, the best way in every way easy, and has a total value of money!

I researched UPS’s after the house breaker started tripping randomly. I used APC’s power supply finder on their website and it recommended this one to give 16 minutes of backup time. Either I overstated my needs or APC did. This actually gives 33 minutes for my computer using 135 watts (Tower, 22 in LCD monitor, router and modem) so I have room to grow.
I was concerned about the alarms going off at all hours and waking me up but I’m pleased that the software included allows me to turn the alarms off totally or off during certain hours (it defaults to 8PM-8AM)or disable them when the computer is off (that makes sense).
Overall, I’m glad I got this and haven’t have any problems with it.

Don’t buy an APC UPS Backup if you use SLEEP MODE on your computer – matthew a – Los Angeles, CA USA
Do not purchase an APC UPS backup if you use SLEEP MODE on your computer because if the power goes out, the unit does NOT wake the computer and provides no power backup – the computer goes dead as if there was no UPS device attached. I am using a MacPro Quad 2009 and the unit does function properly when the power is removed and the computer is awake. But I place my computer in sleep mode every night and sometimes during the day to save energy.
So APC instructs me to leave the computer on all the time. Idiots. And APC claims to be a energy saving, green company on it’s website but doesn’t support energy saving measures like sleep mode.
APC provides nonsense customer service because they offered no solution to this very basic problem. Many computer users place their machines into sleep mode. APC cannot solve this problem and instead try to blame the computer manufacturer. I do not recommend buying any APC product and I intend to avoid this company’s products in the future.

I have just had my 4th unit fail. The prior 3 were all replaced by APC under warranty, which is about the only good thing I can say about them. I am guessing that this unit has an inherent defect that causes it to decide that it is no longer receiving power. It then goes into battery backup and shuts the computer down. The problem is that it does this when there is adequate power and, as in the last 3 units, this one will not reset. It is totally useless. I had always been a fan of APC but it is my belief that the quality of their product has gone down hill and I will never purchase from them again. I would have given it 0 stars, but Amazon requires some rating. It isn’t even worth the one star I had to give it.

I took it out of the package, dropped it into the slot on my UPS, and it worked. I am not sure how anyone would have problems with this. You have to follow the directions and make sure that you have the battery in the correct orientation. My only objection is that the price is high, but I chose to go with the branded battery to avoid any problems. I got what I wanted.

It Does Fit – 11bravo – CA, USA
In same position as previous reviewer, Peter Chen. The SMALL footprint of my existing (discontinued) BE325 UPS the critical factor, so no choice but to buy this battery.
I will note that the ORIGINAL battery was a Vision CP1232 battery, NOT an APC labeled battery. However, for a price difference of (what I could find the Vision battery for, including shipping), I decided to go with the APC battery, though, no doubt, all made in the same factory in China.
As delivered, the APC battery would not fit into the UPS. Only when fiddling with it did I notice that the plastic covers on the spade poles would slide all the way forward, allowing the battery to slip into the case.
Except in the case where you have a BE325 and need to keep it, MUCH better served by buying a new UPS.
Expensive battery – Pete Chen – East Bay, CA
Battery quality is O.K. You will only complain when it dies prematurely. It is so far so good. It is quite expensive consdering a new UPS with the same battery is only about ten bucks more. But I have a discontinued BE325R, whose size is the smallest on the market. Only it will fit in the computer closet I have. I have to buy this battery. Otherwise, I suggest you look for a new UPS.

You can buy a brand new unit (includes new battery) from Circuit City for less money than this replacement battery.
Sad to say it but it’s better to just recycle this one and get a new one completely.

I’ve been using this UPS for a few months now. It’s been rock-solid, and it has great linux compatibility. I had an air conditioner on the same circuit for awhile, which is generally a bad idea with computer equipment. However, this UPS caught every single voltage fluctuation and protected my equipment every time the AC compressor kicked in. For linux integration, I use the ‘apcupsd’ package, which gives me temperature, load and voltage monitoring, as well as network broadcasts to other linux boxes to do network shutdowns.

I had this unit for 3.5 years and it dies after I talked to Tech Support!
APC is a company I will not being doing business with any time soon. I purchased this unit at the end Jan of 2006 and the unit work fine till I added a generator to my home. After that, the unit started going on and off when the generator took over powering the house. The cause of this was my that generator was only putting out about 59.1hz rather then the normal 60hz put out by our power companies. This should have not been a problem since the unit is suppose to work from 50 – 60hz with out issue.
I called tech support to ask them what to do and they told me to push a button on the back of the unit to change the sensitivity. When I did that the unit died! I was then told that there was nothing they would do for me. However they would offer me 0 off an upgrade!?!?!
This is not the first time I have had tech support issues with APC. There units are NOT WORTH the money or hassle.
For those who are going to point out that I had the unit running for 3.5 years and what did I expect… I was not asking APC to give me a new unit for free. What I was asking for was a significant discount. That was all. I felt that, that would only be right since it only died after APCs tech support staff told me what to do with the unit.

Can’t go wrong with the purchase of this replacement battery. It’s an actual APC brand battery which ensures quality. This was the best price I could find. It shipped way faster than Amazon states with free shipping. I ordered on a Monday (morning) and had it Wednesday. I was able to do a “hotswap” with my backup unit which was great because I didn’t have to turn off the company’s file server to replace it!

I paid ~ more than order generic replacement because usually APC replacement battery comes with a UPS return shipping lable so that I can return the used battrey back to the factory in stead of disposing in dumpster and ends up at landfill somewhere. However, the APC replacement battery from Amazon doesn’t some with a return shipping lable !!!

Not sure about this replacement battery for the apc xs 1000. The installation was easy (i watched a how to video online). But i’m already getting warning sounds from the unit (just a couple weeks after install). May be I have it overloaded – not sure. Once I’ve sorted it out I’ll have to post again.

Not sure why Amazon won’t accept battery returns based on their return policy of saftey concerns in shipping ‘hazardous materials’ (afterall was it unsafe when they shipped it to me…so why can’t I ship it back to them). You should know Amazon will not accept returns or exchanges on this item. My APC Back-UPS 900 was actually a 900r (you have to read the small type serial number on the bottom rather than looking at the large label on the front of the item. Since mine in the ‘r’ version it takes the RBC5 battery NOT the RBC32. You wouldn’t have known that based on the title of this listing so just be careful.
