Sandisk MicroMate for SD – Card reader ( SD, SDHC ) – Hi-Speed USB Review


My Dell Vostro laptop reads HC (high capacity) cards but will not read smaller ones. While I have found this issue reported on the internet, most people complain that theirs will not read HC cards (just the opposite of my problem). I have installed several different drivers and tried many of the suggested resolutions I have found on internet forums and the manufacturers site without any luck. I made so many efforts I gave up, too much aggravation!

I have not had any problems reading cards with the Sandisk MicroMate. I have used different brands, capacities and classes, and in my opinion it does exactly what it’s supposed to do, unlike my internal card reader.

Own two of these now. One for my wife and one for me. I use it either as a flash drive with an SD card, or simply to upload my camera pictures to the PC. No more wierd cables. Fits nicely in a laptop bag or in the camera pouch. A bit wide – but it has to be to hold the SD card. Love it!
Throw out the little plastic cover they give you, its worthless.

I clocked it at nearly max USB 2 transfer rate. But a lot depends on your computer and unfortunately where in the USB chain it gets. It is a little thick and a little wide for some laptops or even desktops with cowed USB interface areas. But that can be solved with a short USB male/Female patch. Great value for the money. As for transfer rat your millage will varey.
